I save and use every tiny precious piece. I made a batch of 12 earrings and match pairs as best they match. Each pair is unique.

Many years ago, Philip asked me for photos of my jewelry where I incorporated his Mokume-Gane. I was thrilled to give him a sheet of 36 slides of my jewelry with his Mokume-gane. His patterned metals was one of my ways to add colors and patterns to my work. When making a box for John Paul Jones, the architect of the Japanese American Exclusion Memorial on Bainbridge Island, I used Philip’s Mokume-gane to show the wooden dock people walked down to leave BI in 1942. When creating a portrait on six sides of a box of a ceramic artist, I used Philip’s Mokume-gane to show a raku tea pot. When making a box about Italy, I used Philip’s end grain to show the stripes of the shirt of a man steering a gondola. His patterned metals are gems!

Artist Bio: Jane Martin is a studio jeweler producing work, which is sold in galleries throughout the United States.
